A perpetual futures contract has no fixed expiry date. Its cost can include trading fees, funding payments, and slippage. Compare these costs for the position you plan to hold.
Start with product fit
Legend is our featured option for social and copy trading in perpetual markets. Compare the full cost for your position and holding time. A platform’s total cost includes more than the displayed exchange fee.
| Option | Useful for | Check first |
|---|---|---|
| Legend | Social features, mobile access, and copy trading | Exchange fees plus applicable Legend platform fees |
| Native Hyperliquid app | Direct use of Hyperliquid’s own interface | Supported markets, protocol fees, and account rules |
Use position value, not margin
Trading fees usually apply to position value. If you use $1,000 of margin at 5x leverage, the position value is $5,000. Enter $5,000 in the calculator. Enter fees separately for opening and closing the trade.
Funding can be a payment or a receipt
Enter a positive hourly funding rate if you expect to pay. Enter a negative rate if you expect to receive. The calculator holds position value and the hourly rate constant. Actual rates and position value can change.
Check liquidity and execution
Compare the spread and order book depth for the market and order size you use. A market order can fill at several prices. Slippage can exceed the estimate, especially when prices move quickly.
Use the estimate as a comparison
The estimate excludes changes in the asset price, liquidation costs, network fees, and deposit or withdrawal costs. It is not a return forecast or an exact account statement.
